The Goethe Web Science Initiative is a joint effort between various colleagues at the Goethe University to bridge and formalize the social and technical aspects of the World Wide Web. The Initiative is open to colleagues from other universities and research centers.
The initiative aims to help contributing to the research and teaching agenda for understanding the scientific, technical and social challenges underlying the growth of the web.
The Goethe Web Science Initiative will conduct the following activities:

- Web Science Services
with emphasis on cross-related different research fields, such as:
- Computer Science
- Web Engineering
- Mathematics
- Artificial Intelligence

- Socio-cultural

- Ethics
The initiative will seek cooperation with the Web Science Trust. The Web Science Trust brings together academics, business leaders, entrepreneurs and policy makers from around the world.
